Liberty Founder Bobby Eaton shows one of the company’s premiere sheds.

Liberty Sheds, which designs and manufactures everything from simple storage sheds to elaborate buildings its customers turn into man caves, chic she-sheds, and even tiny houses, has completed a new 85,000 SF state-of-the-art shed manufacturing facility, making it one of the largest shed manufacturing facilities in the Southeast.

A Vision Fulfilled: From Humble Beginnings to State-of-the-Art Facility

The facility continues a dream held by founder/owner Bobby Eaton since building the first storage shed in his 40 X 40 barn in Rowan County in 2006. From those humble beginnings, the company moved to Iredell County, then expanded to a 38,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at 163 Industrial Boulevard in Mocksville, and later added a second manufacturing facility in Vanceboro.

Eaton quickly gives God all the credit for Liberty’s impressive growth, telling attendees of a ribbon-cutting ceremony on January 23rd, “This complex is much bigger than me. People often ask me, ‘Bobby, how have you done it?’ And I always answer the same way. I don’t know how God has done it. Today, He gets all of the honor and glory. This building stands as a monument to His faithfulness. We started in a little 40 X 40, and look at what God has done. Because of the goodness and mercy of God, here we are. I am excited to see what God will do with this facility.”

Liberty President Weston Leibee added, “Thank you for sharing our joy. We love being part of Davie County; it is a lot of fun to do life and business here. It’s that hometown feel that we love and appreciate and one of the reasons we call Davie County home.”

Eaton concluded by sharing some of Liberty’s core values -God first, people matter, and have fun!

True to those values, the building was dedicated to God by Chaplain Larry Morris with Corporate Chaplains of America, who serves as Liberty’s chaplain and visits the facility weekly to support employees and their families.

The project began in October 2020 when it was clear that Liberty would soon outgrow its existing manufacturing facilities. Eaton turned to Terry Bralley, president of the Davie County Economic Development Commission, who helped him acquire 55 acres down the road on what is now Liberty Lifestyle Drive and over $2 million in grants to support its development. The company completed a new office complex/headquarters in March 2023 and plans to continue building the site in phases. Liberty Sheds has invested over $8 million in the property expansion and expects to create 50 new jobs with an average annual wage of $47,500 plus benefits compared to the county average of $39,000.

Versatile Offerings for Every Need

The sheds constructed at the facility will range in size from 8 X 8 to 14 x 40 and include utility sheds, lofted barns, studio sheds, and premier buildings with higher walls and a higher-pitched roof. (Larger sheds are built onsite). The buildings come with lap, painted, stained, or vinyl siding. Each is fully customizable. Customers can go online and choose their color scheme, the placement of the doors and windows, and the porch style and see a good rendition before they buy. Other add-ons are available.

Innovative Features: Touring the State-of-the-Art Facility

Eaton led a tour of the new building and shared that he had been praying about the building, and God showed him the design in a dream.  Only a few changes were made from his original sketch.

He highlighted one-of-a-kind innovations added to the new facility, like a 350 ft. chain drive that runs the length of the building between two large bay doors and allows modular 14 X 40 sheds to be built back-to-back. Raw materials are offloaded at one end, and the completed shed is loaded on a trailer at the other.

Next, he pointed out a zero-waste trim painting machine that captures all overspray and reuses it. He doesn’t know of any other shed manufacturer in North Carolina using one. He shared that the company will also be adding an inline saw, making cutting components more efficient.

In addition to the modular line, Liberty’s new facility offers eight 30 ft x 100 ft construction bays for the higher-end, more complicated buildings. “Our old bays were 25 ft x 50 ft, so you can imagine the additional capacity we have here,” Easton remarked.

Employment Opportunities: Liberty Sheds Open for Business

Eaton wants people to know that Liberty is open for business. “We are looking forward to hiring many more people. If you are looking for employment, Liberty is hiring! As we continue to grow, I believe God will continue to supply our needs.”
