Largest Lithuanian Investment in the U.S. Plants Roots in Davie County

SBA Home North Carolina officially celebrated a major milestone on February 25 with a grand opening gala at its nearly half-million-square-foot manufacturing facility at 134 Gildan Drive in the Davie Industrial Center in Mocksville.

SBA Group and IKEA executives, SBA Home NC employees, community partners, and vendors gathered to mark the occasion — a celebration of both international investment and local opportunity.

The advanced manufacturing facility, which began operations in October with approximately 100 employees, produces furniture for IKEA.

“At this moment, the factory is operating on one shift, and we have already started hiring employees for a second,” said Jurgita Radzevičė, CEO of SBA Home. “In the near future, we plan to further expand production and hire additional employees. This project is a significant step in SBA Group’s development in the U.S., and we see strong long-term potential here.”

SBA Home NC CEO Angelika Matczak added that the company’s immediate focus is on strengthening operations locally. “Our focus now is on stabilizing operations and building strong local teams,” she said. “As we add shifts, we will continue to create new manufacturing jobs and invest in employee training to ensure the long-term success of the facility.”

A Global Investment with Local Impact

“I was honored to join the launch of what is, so far, the largest Lithuanian investment in the United States. This investment not only allows companies like SBA Home to scale up in a very large and dynamic market, but it also aligns with the administration’s priorities of bringing manufacturing back to the USA,” said Lithuanian Ambassador Gediminas Varvuolis, who attended the celebration.

SBA Home announced its decision to locate in Mocksville in December 2024 after securing approval for a state economic development grant valued at approximately $1.9 million, along with local incentives from Mocksville and Davie County totaling about $800,000. The company ultimately selected Davie County over a competing site in Cherokee County, South Carolina.

North Carolina was selected as the location for SBA Group’s first U.S. factory due to its strong furniture manufacturing heritage, strategic logistics infrastructure, proximity to raw material suppliers, and skilled workforce. The state’s favorable investment environment continues to support SBA Group’s long-term growth plans in the region.

Inside the Facility: From Mocksville to Living Rooms Across America

During the morning of the grand opening, guests toured the expansive facility and saw firsthand how the team manufactures square shelving systems for IKEA.

Once fully operational, SBA Home North Carolina is expected to produce more than 2 million pieces of furniture annually. In addition to launching a second shift, the company plans to introduce an additional product line and expand available product colors in the near future.

SBA Home is the furniture manufacturing arm of SBA Group, an international enterprise with 3,500 employees and more than 60 companies operating in furniture manufacturing, real estate development, textile production, and investments. The group reported nearly $500 million in revenue in 2024 and operates four factories in Lithuania.

With more than $70 million invested by SBA Group in the Mocksville facility, company leaders say the long-term vision includes continued growth and potential additional expansion opportunities across the United States.

“I am 100% sure that this is just the beginning of SBA in the United States,” Radzevičė said.
